As the weather starts to warm up, many of us start thinking about boating season. But before you put your boat in the water, it is important to make sure that your boat’s signage is up to snuff. At minimum, you’ll want to make sure that your vessel’s registration is properly displayed on each side of the bow – but most boat owners like to take it a few steps forward – displaying the name of their craft, a fun custom boat graphics or two or maybe even a full colour wrap.
Whatever signage for your boat you choose, however it must durable and able to withstand the effects of water, wind and sun season after season.
In this article, we discuss the proper and best signage to display on your boat:
While names and graphics may be mainly for fun, a registration number displayed on each side of the bow is required by Canadian law. The numbers must be a minimum of 7.5 cm (3 inches) in height and be displayed in block characters and be in a colour that clearly contrasts with the bow.
The team at About Signs can help you determine the proper size, colour and placement of your boat ID numbers to ensure that you are fully legal this summer so you don’t end up with a hefty fine.
